one perfect day

Day trips around Arusha and Moshi

Waterfalls, hot springs, Maasai culture and a taste of safari, all back in time for dinner.

short on time

A full day out, close to base

Not every trip needs a week. Our day trips are a good way to fill a spare day before or after a climb or safari, to rest your legs after Kilimanjaro, or to see a little of northern Tanzania if you are passing through.

Choose a walk to Materuni Waterfall with a coffee farm visit, a swim in the clear water of Chemka hot springs, time in a Maasai village, a walking safari in Arusha National Park or a game drive among Tarangire's elephants and baobabs.

How we run these trips

Pick-up from your hotel

Your driver collects you from your hotel in the morning and brings you back at the end of the day. Most trips start from Moshi or Arusha. Tell us where you are staying and we will confirm the timing.

Easy to add to any trip

Day trips fit neatly around a Kilimanjaro climb or a safari. Many climbers visit Materuni or Chemka on the day before or after the mountain. We arrange everything as part of your wider plan.

Something for everyone

Some trips are gentle, like a picnic and swim at Chemka. Others involve more walking, such as the Materuni gorge path or the forest trails of Arusha National Park. We will tell you honestly what each day involves.

before you ask

Common questions

Chemka hot springs is a favourite. The water is warm and clear, there is shade for a picnic and there is very little walking, which your legs will appreciate after the descent.

Yes. Tarangire National Park is known for large elephant herds and baobab trees, and Arusha National Park offers a walking safari with an armed ranger, plus giraffe, buffalo and flamingos on the Momella Lakes.

Visits are arranged with the village, and you are welcomed as a guest. Ask before taking photos of people, and if you would like to buy beadwork or crafts, buying directly supports the families you meet.

Each trip page lists its inclusions. They usually cover transport, a guide, entry fees and a packed or local lunch. Your quote confirms exactly what is included for your date.
