Chemka Hot Springs, also called Kikuletwa Hot Springs, is a natural pool of clear, warm, turquoise water near Rundugai village, shaded by palms and trees in the dry country between Arusha and Kilimanjaro. It is one of the most relaxing places to spend a day in northern Tanzania.
The drive from Arusha takes about two hours each way and passes through towns, villages and farmland, with your guide explaining the country as you go. At the springs you have several hours to swim, float and rest under the trees, and to try the rope swing if you feel brave. A hot lunch is served during your visit.
It is an easy day with no early start, ideal after a long safari or climb.
Couples and friends wanting a lazy day, families with confident swimmers (children need supervision in natural water), solo travellers, and climbers resting their legs after Kilimanjaro.
