Vegetarian, vegan and halal

Many of our trekkers are vegetarian, and our cooks are well trained to prepare satisfying meat-free food. You are welcome to meet the cook at the briefing before your climb and agree a menu that suits you.

Vegetarian dishes include: vegetable, pumpkin, cucumber and leek soups with bread, vegetable salads, fried potatoes with vegetable sauce, rice, pasta, spaghetti, Chinese rice, porridge, mashed or boiled potatoes, beans, chapati, vegetable samosas and fresh fruit.

Vegan dishes include: vegetable, pumpkin, sweet potato, carrot and cucumber soups with bread, mushroom and vegetable dishes, grilled vegetable sandwiches, rice, pasta, beans, boiled or mashed potatoes, chapati, vegetable salads, fruit and black tea.

Halal food is available for Muslim climbers on request. Please tell us in advance so we can prepare your meals accordingly.

Gluten-free or other special diets can also be arranged. Tell us what you need when you book, and discuss it with your cook at the briefing.

On a camping safari

On a budget camping safari your cook prepares the same kind of breakfasts and dinners at camp. For long days in the parks, lunch can be a hot lunch hamper:

  • White or brown rice
  • Chicken or beef stew
  • Green vegetables or beans
  • Fruit and juice
  • Mineral water
  • Black coffee or tea
