Speke Bay Lodge lies on the south-eastern shore of Lake Victoria, 15 km from the Ndabaka entrance to Serengeti National Park. Its thatched cottages stand along the lakeshore with verandas shaded by bougainvillea, in 200 acres of land that has gone back to savanna, home to plenty of birds, bushbuck and hippos. You can take a boat out on the lake, cycle to nearby villages or join a guided bird walk, and it makes a restful stop for tours using the Serengeti's western corridor.
