where you stay
A stone hut at about 4,700 metres at the edge of the Saddle, the high desert between Kibo and Mawenzi. It is the summit base for the Marangu route and the last stop on the Rongai climb. Climbers sleep in shared dormitories with bunks, eat an early dinner and rest for a few hours before setting off for the crater rim near midnight.
