where you stay
The first overnight stop on the Marangu route, at about 2,700 metres at the top of the rainforest. Climbers sleep in wooden A-frame huts with bunk beds and mattresses, allocated by the park rangers, and eat in a shared dining hut. A short path leads to the rim of Maundi Crater, a good first viewpoint when the weather is clear.
