School Hut Camp

A high camp at about 4,750 metres on the north-eastern flank of Kibo, used for the summit or crater approach on the Northern Circuit and some Rongai climbs. It is stony, exposed and cold, so you eat early and rest. The small hut here is for rangers; you sleep in tents. Your mountain crew carries everything up and pitches your sleeping tents and a dining tent with table and chairs, and the cook serves hot meals here morning and evening. Toilets at the campsite are basic long-drop facilities.
